As part of the STAR – Story Tours Alternative Routes project, local tour-laboratories were organised in different partner countries to give young people and youth workers the opportunity to co-create, test and adapt Educational Walking Tours based on their local realities.
The Deliverable D3.1 – Local Tour-Laboratory Organised presents the experiences and outcomes of these laboratories in Jordan, Serbia, Italy, Spain, North Macedonia and Albania. The activities explored local stories, oral histories and social issues such as migration, gentrification and activism, using storytelling, digital tools and participatory methods.
The report documents the methodologies used, the tours created, the learning experiences of participants and the feedback collected during the testing of the STAR toolkit. In total, 12 in-person tours and 6 virtual tours were developed, demonstrating how the methodology could be adapted to different contexts while maintaining a common focus on youth participation and community engagement.
The report also highlights key lessons for the future, including the importance of flexibility, youth leadership, accessibility, digital storytelling and the long-term preservation of local stories.
